Old St. Georges Bridge To Close For Repairs In September

The U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers has announced that the old St. Georges Bridge will be closed for repairs later this year. The Friday, Feb. 23 announcement from Tim Boyle of the Philadelphia District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said that the bridge, which takes Rt. 13 over the C&D Canal will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 through January 2019 as the Army Corps and their contractors will be repairing steel beams on the bridge. Motorists are advised to use the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge (Rt. 1) as a detour. Earlier in February 2018, the Army Corps awarded the $3.7 million contract to Freyssinet Inc. for the repairs on the bridge built in 1941.
