Troopers Arrest Student for Weapons Offense at School

Delaware State Police have arrested a 15-year-old student from Townsend, Delaware, in connection with a weapons offense at Odessa High School on Wednesday.

On March 8th, 2023, at approximately 10:15 a.m., a Delaware State Police School Resource Officer (SRO) responded to a possible fight on the second floor of Odessa High School, located at 570 Tony Marchio Drive in Townsend. Prior to the SRO’s arrival, the two students were swiftly separated by school staff. The investigation revealed that a 15-year-old student displayed a knife and threatened to stab the student during a verbal altercation. No one was injured during this incident. The 15-year-old student was taken to Troop 9, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)

The 15-year-old student was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released to their guardian on a $3000 unsecured bond.
