AHS Presents "The Sound Of Music" - March 22-25

Appoquinimink High School presents “The Sound Of Music” March 22 through 25 at the school on Bunker Hill Road. The show is based on the real-life memoir of Maria von Trapp. Set in Austria, the musical tells the story of Maria who takes a job as governess for a large family while trying to decide to become a nun. She falls in love with the family as well as the widowed father who is ordered to accept a commission with the German Navy but he opposes the Nazis. Eventually the family decides to flee. The musical features the songs of Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein and features classic songs such as “My Favorite Things”, “Do Re Mi”, “Sixteen Going On Seventeen”, and the title song.

The student-led cast is led by Mecina Fellin as Maria and Cole Purse as Captain von Trapp. The four oldest von Trapp children are played by AHS students and six young performers from the District’s elementary and middle schools take on the roles of the three youngest von Trapp children.

The show runs Thursday through Saturday March 22 through Saturday March 24 at 7pm with a 3pm matinee on Sunday March 25. You can order tickets online at https://ahssom.brownpapertickets.com.
