Middletown Police Department To Participate In DEA Take Back Day - April 28

The Middletown Police Department will be taking part in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Take Back Day on April 28. The department will collect unwanted or outdated prescription medication at police headquarter, 130 Hampden Road on Saturday, April 28 from 10am to 2pm. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked however the DEA cannot collect liquids, needles, or sharps and can only collect pills or patches.

Last fall, the DEA collected 456 tons of unwanted prescription drugs at more than 5,300 sites operated by the DEA and 4,300 sites operated by state and local police. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health, the majority of misused and abused medications are stolen from home medicine cabinets.
