Over $250,000 Raised For Trinidad Family

So far, over $250,000 has been raised for the New Jersey family who lost five members in a Friday traffic accident on Rt. 1 near Townsend, while the medical condition of the lone survivor has been upgraded.

A GoFundMe page for the Trinidad family was set up by a family friend to raise money for the family who lost the patriarch, 61-year-old Audie Trinidad and daughters Kaitlyn (20), Danna (17) and 13-year-old twins Melissa and Allison, in the Friday crash as well as for their mother, 53-year-old Mary Rose Ballocanag who survived the accident. As of Wednesday morning, July 11, $251,384 over their goal of $250,000 had been raised by 6,636 donors in just two days. The organizer said she is not setting a limit on donations because it is not yet clear how much medical help is needed. In a message posted on the page on Sunday evening, the organizer Linda Douglas said “While there is no simple way to determine the true cost of this tragic and horrific event, it is our intention to remain transparent and provide appropriate updates that will allow each donor to know that their donation is meaningful, appreciated, and used for its intended purpose”. Douglas said the current focus is on returning the family’s remains from Delaware and organizing their funerals. She said those plans have not yet been completed so the mother can be a part of the plans. According to a family member, the condition of Mary Rose Balloncanag has been upgraded to fair. She is reported to be conscious and alert and was scheduled for shoulder surgery on Monday afternoon, July 9. A vigil for the family was held at Votee Park at the family’s home in Teaneck, New Jersey on Saturday, July 7. Grief counselors are available for the community at Teaneck High School.
