The operator of a vessel involved in a July 3 accident at the C&D Canal near the Reedy Point Bridge was charged after an investigation. According to a July 13 press release, the Delaware Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police cited the operator for failure to maintain a proper lookout. The accident happened around 2:35pm on July 3 when rescue crews responded to a call about a boat crashed against the rocks on the north side of the canal. All four occupants of the vessel, including a child, transferred to rescue boats and taken to a staging area at the Delaware City dock. They were then treated and released for non-life threatening injuries at Christiana Hospital.
