Troopers Arrest New Jersey Man in Stolen Vehicle During Traffic Stop- Wilmington

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Ronnie Watkins (no photograph available) of Westville, NJ, in connection with a stolen motor vehicle after a traffic stop Thursday night.
The incident occurred on April 8, 2021, at approximately 9:48 p.m., when a trooper on patrol detected a blue Audi A4 traveling above the posted speed limit southbound I-95 at the Brandywine River Bridge inside of a construction zone. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and contact was made with the operator, later identified as Ronnie Watkins, southbound I-95 at Delaware Ave. A computer inquiry was conducted, and it was discovered the suspect’s vehicle was stolen out of Deptford, NJ. Watkins was then taken into custody without incident. A subsequent probable cause search lead to the discovery of approximately 5.15 grams of marijuana and over $2,700 is suspected drug proceeds.
Watkins was transported back to Troop 1 where he was processed and charged with the following crimes:
- Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500 (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana (Civil)
- Driving Without a Valid License
- Speeding
Watkins was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $5,000.00 cash bond.
