Pursuit Leads to the Arrest of Two Individuals on Drugs and Weapons Charges- Wilmington

Wilmington- Delaware State Police arrested 27-year-old Labrea Day of Chester, PA, and 19-year-old Mychal Lewis (no photograph available) of New Castle, DE, on drugs and weapons charges following a pursuit Sunday morning.

On July 4, 2021, at approximately 11:16 a.m., a trooper conducting traffic enforcement on southbound I-495 observed a Blue Nissan Sentra with illegal window tinting. The trooper initiated a traffic stop on the Sentra, but the vehicle refused stop. After a brief pursuit, the Sentra pulled onto the shoulder of the roadway in the area of Edgemoor Road. The trooper made contact with the operator, identified as Labrea Day and front seat passenger, identified as Mychal Lewis. A computer inquiry revealed Day was wanted for an active capias.

Day and Lewis were taken into custody without incident. Subsequently, a probable cause search was conducted, and troopers discovered a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun, approximately 13.3 grams of marijuana, and over $600 in suspected drug proceeds inside of the vehicle.

Day and Lewis were taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 1 where they were each charged with the following crimes:

Labrea Day

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Improper Window Tinting

Day was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and posted bail on $1,575 secured bond.

Mychal Lewis was issued a civil citation for the possession of marijuana.
