State Police Investigating Robbery of Wilmington Area Family Dollar

Wilmington – Troopers are investigating a robbery of an area retail store that occurred Monday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:08 p.m., Monday November 29, 2021, at Family Dollar located at 2021 Kirkwood Highway, as a male subject confronted two employees as there were standing behind the sales counter. The suspect was armed with an unknown type handgun and demanded money.  The clerks complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect fled out of the store and ran toward Kirkwood Highway.  The store employees were not injured in the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 25-29 years of age, 5’09”-6’01” tall, wearing all black clothing, and had a black mask covering his face (no further physical or clothing description). He was armed with an unknown type handgun.
