Troopers Arrest Suspect for Burglary at Convenience Store

Delaware State Police arrested Willis Roundtree, 49, of Wilmington, DE, for burglary and related charges early Saturday morning.

On April 30, 2022, at approximately 3:24 a.m., troopers responded to Wawa, located at 4000 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, for a reported burglary. The investigation determined a male suspect, later identified as Willis Roundtree, forced entry into the convenience store and removed approximately $1,400 worth of merchandise before fleeing the area on foot. A trooper patrolling the surrounding area observed the suspect and contacted him near Briarcliff and Bizarre Drive. During the investigation, Roundtree was found to be in possession of the stolen merchandise. He was also found to be in possession of approximately 0.007 grams of suspected heroin during a search incident to an arrest. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary 3rd Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance
  • Criminal mischief under $5000
  • Theft under $1500

Roundtree was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and released on a $7,500 unsecured bond.
