State Police Arrest Man for Aggravated Menacing

The Delaware State Police have arrested 37-year-old Anthony Holmes of New Castle, Delaware, following an incident that occurred at a New Castle motel early Sunday morning.

On July 9, 2023, at approximately 2:41 a.m., troopers responded to the Hollywood Motel located at 145 S. Dupont Highway, New Castle, regarding an aggravating menacing incident. Troopers made contact with a 34-year-old woman, who said another guest at the motel yelled at her while holding a knife. Troopers made contact with the guest, identified as Anthony Holmes, and observed a firearm partially concealed in his pants pocket. Holmes was taken into custody, and the loaded firearm was recovered from Holmes’ pants pocket along with the knife that was described by the victim.

Holmes was transported to Troop 2 and charged with the following crimes:

Anthony Holmes:

  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence

Holmes was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $28,000 cash bond.
