State Police Arrest Woman on Felony Weapons Charges

The Delaware State Police arrested 26-year-old Briana Diedrich of Ellendale, Delaware on felony weapon charges following an assault investigation that took place yesterday.

On July 26, 2023, at approximately 8:55 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a residence on the 20000 block of Orchard Road in Ellendale for a report of an assault. When troopers arrived, they made contact with a 29-year-old man from Millsboro, Delaware, who was bleeding from a cut on his arm. The investigation revealed that Diedrich, an acquaintance of the victim, cut him with a machete. After being cut, the victim was able to get away and call 9-1-1. He did not request medical treatment for his injury. Diedrich was taken into custody without incident. While on scene, troopers were able to recover the machete.

Diedrich was taken into custody and was transported to Troop 7, where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Assault Second Degree (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Terroristic Threatening

Diedrich was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $33,000 cash bond.
