by Super User

An early Friday morning Smyrna traffic stop led to a Dover man being arrested on weapons charges. The incident happened around 12:30am on April 13 when a trooper on northbound Rt. 1 north of Exit 119 observed two vehicles at a high rate of speed on Rt. 1 Southbound. Both vehicles were stopped on Rt. 1 near Smyrna-Leipsic Road. The first vehicle was a 2012 Hyundai Sonata driven by 23-year-old Quajan Daniels of Dover. A computer check revealed that Daniels was wanted on three previous traffic charges and a search revealed a loaded handgun and additional ammunition. He was taken into custody and transported to Troop 9 in Odessa and was charged with carrying a concealed, deadly weapon and speeding. He was taken to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna in default of a $2,500 secured bond. A traffic citation was issued for the second vehicle and the driver was released.
